Graham is lucky to be located just where it is, for the surrounding area is one of the most beautiful in Washington State. The Cascade Mountains – long one of the great examples of northern Pacific wilderness – are right in Graham’s backyard. The view of Mt. Rainier covered in snow on a clear day is breathtaking. Heading in the other direction, Graham’s residents can visit both Lake Washington and the Puget Sound. Lake Washington is great for hiking, camping, and fishing, while daily boat rides around the Sound are fun for everybody. Needless to say, thanks to the sea ports all over the area, the seafood is fresh and second to none!

The city of Graham and the rest of eastern Pierce County are home to a wide array of festivals, special events and other things to do. To begin with, there is Arts Downtown, a year-long outdoor exhibit of local art. In the spring the local Daffodil Festival brings flower lovers from all over. Every Saturday in the summer the Puyallup Farmer’s Market offers fresh fruits and veggies, as well as offering entertainment and fun. The Pierce County Fair, held each September in Graham, is fun for the whole family. Each winter brings a Santa Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony.

Outdoor activities are popular in the Pacific Northwest, and the Graham area is no exception. State and national parks dot the landscape, with Flaming Geyser State Park and Mt. Rainier National Park just a short drive away. Foothills Trails are also very popular, with more than 11 miles to hike. And, of course, there is also the world-class hunting and fishing to be found all over the area.

For those with more cosmopolitan tastes, the attractions of Tacoma, Olympia and Seattle will satisfy. The Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, located in Tacoma, is home to more than 300 species on 25-plus acres of exhibits. Olympia is, of course, home to the State Capitol Building. Nearby Seattle features the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, the Seattle Museum of Flight and the Willard Smith Planetarium, as well as the Seattle and Frye art museums.

Not to be forgotten are the major sports teams in Seattle as well. The Seattle Supersonics are the NBA team, the Seahawks the NFL team, and the Mariners the Major League Baseball team. There is something for everyone in Graham and the surrounding areas!
